He used to struggle with the crying baby, but he got really good at carrying his baby on his back and soothing him now. In this amigurumi paern, you can crochet the sleepy eye Beagle named Dashy (papa beagle) and his baby. Amigurumi Sleepy-Eye Dog is your therapy dog. The sleepy eyes and the cute paws are the special feature of my amigurumi therapy dogs. I designed this therapy dog to give aecon, comfort and healing to everyone, not only for a kid but a kid-at-heart! This huggable doll will become the wonderful rst friend of your baby. Or he will become the great companion to dog lovers who live in a place no dogs allowed or who are away from their pets. Page 2 GUAGE: Gauge is not crical for this project FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Dashy - 12 inches (30 cm) tall with indicated yarn weight and hook size Baby/puppy - 3 inches (8 cm) tall with indicated yarn weight and hook size ABBREVIATIONS: = work instrucons within brackets as many mes as directed = three double crochet bobble = four double crochet bobble = ve double crochet bobble BLO = double crochet = decrease FLO = front loop(s) only = half double crochet rep = repeat = round(s) = single crochet sc2tog = single crochet 2 together sc3tog = single crochet 3 together sl st = slip stch st(s) = stch(es) = yarn over SPECIAL STITCHES: sc3tog (single crochet three together) is to make 2 stches decreased. To work joined rounds with single crochet, the beginning of each round is start with ch 1 and single crochet in the same stch as the slip stch join. This ch-1 is not counted as a stch. Connue to work the rest of the round. At the end of the round, you'll have what looks like one stch le as in phot&#xphot;o ;ꀀo A This is not a stch, but rather the remaining of the beginning ch-1 and a slip stch. Ignore this stch and join with a slip stch to the rst single crochet which is indicated in phot&#xphot;o ;뀀o B Joined round has completed. phot&#xphot;o ;쀀o C Each of the following round will start with ch-1 and a single crochet in the same stch as the joined slip stch. *Please note that (sl st, ch 1) in each rounds is omied in this paern When you work double crochet, the beginning chain will be ch-3, and usually this ch-3 is counted as a stch. However, I use the dierent method in this paern in order to avoid the gap between the stches. You will be working the beginning ch-3 and a double crochet in the same stch as the slip stch join. At the end of the round, join with a slip stch to the top of the double crochet (not the chain) from the previous round. worked in WORKING FLO (front loop only) or BLO (back The front loop is a half of the stch that is closest to you and the back loop is the one that is furthest from you. Insert your hook in the indicated loop and work stches as usual according to the paern. This project is worked in joined rounds instead of working in spiral unless otherwise indicated. BACK RIDGE OF FOUNDATION CHAIN: The back ridge is the small “hump” on the back of the chain, the opposite side of which you usually crochet in. Page 4 When you use the same color twice in dierent places of the same round, use a new yarn for each color change phot&#xphot;o ;Po 5 But you do not need to have 2 separate balls of yarn. You can use the second end from the same ball of yarn. *Every ball of yarn has 2 ends; the end from the center and the other end from the outside phot&#xphot;o ;怀o 6 When you work on the rst some rounds of the Head with black yarn, you drop the black yarn to the back of the brown part phot&#xphot;o ;po 7 Photo 8 shows the yarn crossing on the wrong side. It is important to maintain the correct yarn tension so that the carried yarn stay smoothly along the inner surface of the work. If you pull the carried yarn too ght, the work will be ghtened up. If you le it too loose, the stches will be loosened and you will get uneven nish. COLOR CHANGE: To change the yarn color, add a new color by the nal step of the previous stch that you want to change. At the nal step of a single crochet stch, two loops in the working color remain on hook. Yarn over and pull the new color through the two loops on hook. Drop working color and connue to work in the new color. HANDLING YARN WHEN CHANGING COLOR: In this project, because you connually switch between two or more colors of yarn, handling of the yarns may be a lile complicated. Therefore I recommend the following 2 methods for color change: Carry the unused yarn along the top of the round you are going to work unless otherwise noted; For example, the black yarn not in work is carried along the top of the round and bring back to the beginning of the round you are going to work phot&#xphot;o ;ကo 1 . Then, crochet over the carried yarn. phot&#xphot;o ;, 3;&#x & 4;o 2, 3 & 4 Page 5 DASHY (Papa Beagle) HEAD (start in black yarn) Start 6 sc in a magic ring [6] 2 sc in each st around [12] (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 mes [18] (Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 mes [24] (Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 mes [30] (Sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 mes [36] (Sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 mes [42] (Sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 mes [48] Starng at the next round, you will crochet the head with alternang yarns.
